Save and load mockups — Journal becomes Quests
I renamed Journal in the side menu to Quests and updated 5 existing mockups, then drew a save/load screen with a 5-row slot list and an overwrite confirmation. The current save data has no per-slot summary info, so I filled it in with placeholder values.
I went with option 1 for character and option 2 for equipment in 167. I also decided to rename "Journal" in the side menu to "Quests."
Right now there's only one save slot, and saving only works with F5 / F9 (development builds only). What gets saved is basically the version, gold, scene name, position and facing, and the inventory.
Screens I built
I went with option 1, the list. The Save tab in the menu frame has 5 slot rows (#1–#5). Each row has a thumbnail, place name, save time, play time and gold, plus party faces + Lv on the right. Empty slots say "Empty."
The save time, play time, place name, thumbnail and party info aren't in the current save data, though, so they're all placeholder values. The thumbnails are cropped from old screenshots.
Saving to a slot that already has a record brings up "Overwrite slot 1?" with info about the previous save, and Esc No / F Yes.
Load uses the same frame with just the tab switched, plus the line "Continue a saved game." Empty slots are darker and can't be selected. Option 2, a card layout (3 big cards, + on empty slots, ◆◇ 1 / 2 paging), is kept.
For Journal → Quests, I edited the text layers in the XCF originals and re-exported the PNGs: inventory option 1 from 162 and the 4 character/equipment mockups from 167, 5 in total.
Things I thought about
- Leaving the 161 skin mockup alone. There's no XCF original for it, so the old "Journal" text is still there, but it's only for comparing skins, so I didn't bother fixing it.
Next up
- Multiple save slots (separate files) and per-slot summary info (save time, total play time, display name of the place, party level)
- Take a screenshot thumbnail when saving and store it with the save
- Sort out how the F5/F9 dev shortcuts relate to saving from the menu
