New shop skin, and cleaning up the item tooltip and old inventory window
Switched Luka's general store to the new full-screen skin and, as decided in 165, removed the item tooltip and the old small inventory window. The trade rules stay the same, and the blurred background is now shared code that the menu uses too.
The shop (Luka's general store) was still an old-skin window. The mockup is #1 from 163 (full-screen style). In 165 I'd decided to get rid of item tooltips, and in step 4 (175) I'd put off cleaning up the old small inventory window until the tooltip removal. This time I handled it all at once.
Screens I built
At the top are the blurred background, a shop name banner, a big title (Buy/Sell) and the tabs. On the left are the item list (icon, name, price, −/quantity/+, owned) and a description, with a line under the description for effect · sell price · stacking. On the right are ITEM INFO (own 2 → 4 after buying), EFFECT, the total, your G (12,850 → 12,350) and the F Buy button.
The old window opened with nothing selected, but now the first item is selected as soon as it opens. Controls: ↑↓ for the list, ←→ for quantity, Q/E for the Buy/Sell tabs, F to confirm, Esc or X to close, and the wheel to scroll the list.
I talked to Luka, went in through "Buy items" and bought 2 greater health potions. My money became 12,350, potions went 0 → 2, and "Bought 2 Greater Health Potions." showed up.
The sell tab shows the inventory slots as they are, and items that can't be sold are dimmed and blocked so you can't select them. The key guide changes to "F Sell" too. Selling one health potion takes it 10 → 9 and my money to 12,400. Closing with Esc also unlocks the player.
Things I thought about
- Trade messages go to the right of the name banner. The mockup had no spot for messages like "Bought 2 Greater Health Potions." or "Not enough money." So I put them on the right side of the shop name banner.
- Trade rules stay untouched. All-or-nothing trades, the money and space limits, unsellable items, opening through a dialogue choice, and the input lock from step 33 all stay as they were. If the inventory or money changes while the shop is open, it redraws while keeping the same item selected.
- Shared blurred background. I pulled the menu's (172) blurred background code out on its own so the menu and shop both use it. The shop captures the screen with the dialogue box closed, and turns off other UI like the HUD and dialogue box for the one frame it captures.
- Deleting the tooltip and the old window. The menu's item tab (175) covers inventory info and the shop's ITEM INFO covers item details, so the tooltip isn't needed anymore. I removed the old small inventory window and the old shop slots too. I backed up the originals (8 scripts + 2 prefabs) before deleting them.
