Making the walk from the guild entrance to the counter 36% longer
The walk from the entrance to the counter was too short, so I extended the hall from 7 to 9 sections north-south (14.4 m), taking the distance from 8.9 m to 12.1 m. The counter area now moves with the north wall.
The guild renewal came out well, but the walk from the entrance to the counter felt too short. I decided to make it at least 30% longer.
What I built
I extended the hall north-south from 7 sections (11.2 m) to 9 sections (14.4 m). I kept it an odd number so the fireplace stays in the middle section of the east wall. The east-west width (17.6 m) is unchanged. As a result, the distance from the door to the front of the counter went from 8.9 m → 12.1 m (+36%).
I increased the rugs along the center aisle from 3 to 5 (2 m apart), spread the tables evenly across the bigger hall, and matched the number of beam rows to the hall length.
The entrance door trigger and arrival point are positioned relative to the south wall, so they moved 1.6 m south along with it. The path from the arrival point to the talk spot connects, and wall hiding, talking to the receptionist and going back out to the village all still work.
Things I thought about
- The counter area follows the north wall. I changed the counter, the receptionist and the talk spot from fixed coordinates to coordinates relative to the north wall. Now just changing the hall's section count moves them along with it. The gallery and stairs were already relative to the north wall.
- Left the hall bigger than the exterior. The hall (17.6 × 14.4 m) is now bigger than the outside of the building, but that's common in games, so I'm keeping it.
Next up
- The camera starting at the north angle when coming back out to the village is the same issue as in 147
